Description

Adolescent Depression: The Masterclass.

This intensive and highly interactive course will address specific questions regarding assessing and treating adolescent depression. Participants will submit their own questions, prior to the workshop in order to ensure their unique challenges are addressed.

Although not formal clinical supervision, this Masterclass is learning experience that offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage in an intimate group setting and have their voices heard and individual questions answered.

Led by Ms. Ellen Blaufox, LCSW-R this course will provide practical guidance, helpful scripts, and problem-solving techniques to tackle the most challenging issues associated with Adolescent Depression.

Depression is often misdiagnosed and untreated in adolescents, particularly female teens of color. Special attention is paid to the issues and concerns for historically underserved, BIPOC youth. The Workshop will highlight how the race and gender of both the client and the clinician impact the diagnosis and treatment; this workshop uses both didactic and interactive, experiential teaching methods. Connections are made in regard to historical trauma, family history, and the impact of social constructs on mental health. Concrete treatment interventions will be provided to increase more accurate assessment and prognosis.
